Clynelish 20 Year Old 200th Anniversary 57.3% - 70cl
North Highlands's single malt from the world famous Clynelish Distillery Established in 1819 by the 1st Duke of Sutherland, the distillery we see today was established in 1967, the previous site closed in 1931 with a short reopening in 1939. (its a complicated history)
Nose: The aromas of rich chocolate, hints of soft mint and honey, some tangy aromas of spiced dark fruits, cedar wood cigar box, light honey and soft caramel chews.
Palate: The front and mid palate of this dram are incredibly balanced with a nutty smooth tone, some salted caramel, dried apricots, candied orange and a hint of soft spices with a nice coastal tang that underpins the mid to late palate of this increasingly rich single malt, the finish is a lingering long fresh and slightly fruity one, some more of those coastal notes deliver a perfect ending.
