Bowmore 12 Year Old / 40% / 70cl
The oldest distillery on Islay, Bowmore produces a sweet, earthy and peaty whisky. Old and rare Bowmore bottles are some of the most expensive and desirable whiskies in the world, but their 12-Year-Old remains excellent value for money and serves as great introduction to a distillery so closely associated with the Islay style and with a worldwide reputation for fine malts.
If you’ve tried Laphroaig 10-Year-Old, this bottle should be next on your list.
Nose: Maritime from the opening of the bottle into the glass, soft fruity smoke notes with hints of hard candy and wine gums, salt with burnt wood autumnal grasses and spices.
Palate: Some spring time fruit, rich aromatic smoke from the nose is ever present on the palate, it builds taste in the glass with no need to add water to release the full dram experience of this timeless Islay.
Golden pears with honey and vanilla lead to some rich peat and smoke notes towards the middle and back palate. Sea salt with seaside rock, citrus adds to the final push of this all time classic.
