Orkney 2006 15 Years Old 57.7%
Nose: A big hit of honey, some caramel with course sea salt & pineapple flan more subtle coastal notes, candied citrus peel, toasted marshmallow, hints of maple syrup.
Palate: Smooth and tangy at the same time with a deliciously balanced opening on the front of the palate ton a tangy mid palate.
Some toasted fruit cake, whipped latte foam and caramel topped Shue pastry, some warm brioche and saltwater taffy, crispy ice-cream cones and dark honey, with some Barbecue smoked meats and a rich lingering after taste this is a dram to remember.
Here is what the Milroys Tasting Panel had to say (MTP)
Nose: Runny honey that subtly develops a complex savoury undertone - miso? Orkney fudge regains control and then baked apples and brown sugar take over.
Palate: brings fresh orange peel, dried figs, Chinese ginger root in syrup and toasted brioche.
Finish: Full of sticky toffee pudding, with a final hint of fresh chocolate mint.
