This classic French aperitif released by The Last Drop has an exceptional story behind it. Pineau des Charentes, unique to the Cognac region, is typically consumed in it's youth. However, almost 100 years after it was made, this cask-aged Pineau was the accidental discovery of a family owned distillery in the Grande Champagne region.
Behind a hastily built wall, erected to protect the estate from advancing German forces in World War II, this cask was hidden for decades before it was discovered in the rubble by the distillery owner. They had discovered an accidental treasure, a forgotten gem which had matured into something quite miraculous.
TLD Managing Director, Rebecca Jago knew it had to be added to The Last Drop collection, stating “Having tasted it, we knew we had to bring it to the attention of a wider audience: the liquid itself commands the attention even more than the story of its discovery.”
