Benromach Cask Strength 2012 Batch 3 59.6%

A delicious third batch of cask strength 2012 malt from Gordon & MacPhail’s Speyside producer, Benromach! The single cask expression was matured in both ex-bourbon and ex-sherry casks – and then it was bottled last year at a lively 59.6% ABV. It’s a gorgeous malt that’s expressive and full of unctuous fruit notes.

Tasting note:

Nose: Full of festive fruits! There’s orange peel, raisin, cloves, dried apricot and coconut, along with dark chocolate and a dash of earthiness.

Palate: Lots more fruit, this time with blackberries, raspberries and ripe banana coming to the fore. There are gentle latte notes and fresh ginger, too.

Finish: Long, gently spiced and with Christmas cake.
