A gorgeous Clynelish single malt from the famously waxy Highland single malt distillery. This Oloroso sherry-matured spirit brings a wonderfully traditional take on cask influence – and the age just shines in the whisky. The team at Wilson & Morgan bottled it at 48.7% ABV, with the sherry character exactingly balanced by the weight of the alcohol. Dark, brooding, complex – this is a dram for the ages.
Tasting note:
Nose: Immediately drying with an array of rich raisin, plum, dark chocolate, wood paint and old library books.
Palate: A mineral element comes through along with dried orange peel, almond and even herbal vermouth notes.
Finish: Very long, very peppery, with a lingering liquorice note.
